I would say - Offer a shoulder for someone who needs it, irrespective of whether the person cares for it or not.
A person would not care for a shoulder when he/she does not need it.
So NEED is the bridging link..
So one should learn to understand who needs the shoulder and who does not, else by providing it to somebody who does not need it, one would coz loss to both oneself and some other person who needs it.....
